Father Prime Strikes Back

Dwayne Wade is making his farewell tour this year. The Flash has had quite the career and is highly regarded as the 3rdbest shooting guard of all time. Sitting only behind MJ and Kobe… wow. For his career he averagesaround 22 points and 5 assists. But the stats don’t tell the full story. They don’t tell how he, somewhat, carried the Heat to a finals win very early in his career; or him teaching LeBron James how to win a championship. Dwayne Wade is, for lack of a better term, a sweetheart of the NBA. And watching him and the reactions he received last night, really showed that.

Last night Wade hit a dagger 3 pointer as time expired to beat the Golden State Warriors.

After catching the ball at the 3-point line, hesitating, having his shot blocked, catching it again and floating it up… he was able to bank it in off the glass. Of course him and his teammates ran wild and the arena was going nuts. But I think it was how the Golden State Warrior’s reacted that really got me thinking. After the initial shock, they were all smiling and congratulating Wade on the shot. It was the last time these guys would be on the floor at the same time as him and it was great to see.

“I told [Golden State Warriors point guard Steph Curry] I needed this one on my way out. So y’all get enough, you got enough. I think the one thing cool for me is to be able to do this when you’ve got younger teammates that heard about some of the things you do, but don’t always get an opportunity to see it. So it was cool to be able to do it in front of those guys as well.” -Dwayne Wade

Hilarious and accurate. I bet everyone watching this game wanted that shot to do in. And I mean everyone… even Warriors fans! But lets not forget he’s rounding third now. High fiving the 3rd base coach and soon, riding off into the sunset.

Yes, it was a regular season game. Yes, Miami isn’t winning a championship. and YES it was lucky. But it was special. They are his best friend’s arch enemies (kind of, who knows in the NBA anymore), he was in Miami, he pumped KD out of his shoes….. it was special. It was the first time D-Wade has hit a shot like this since 2009 and it couldn’t have been more special…. during the regular season**
